Journalists led by Nepal Press Union (NPU) Thursday started a relay hunger-strike demanding reinstatement of the 49 journalists dismissed by Gorkhapatra (GP) management.
Journalists Mukunda Subedi, Janardan Ghimire, Pavitra Kumar Khadka and Shiva Dahal have been staging a 12-hour long hunger strike at Media Village in Til Ganga since 6 pm Thursday.
Earlier, Murari Kumar Sharma, Bindu Kanta Mainali, Chitra Kumar Wagle, Shital Koirala and Anjana Tamli staged six-hour long hunger strike inside Kamalpokhari police station. Police arrested them while they were staging a sit-in in front of Singha Durbar gate. Police arrested 30 journalists during the demonstration and released them later.
"We will continue our struggle until the journalists fired by the GP management are reinstated," said Sharma, Chairman of NPU.
